Contingency invoice audit — pay only when money comes back
The short version
- Pay a share of verified recoveries only—no upfront seat fee; owe nothing if nothing is recovered.
- Success is verified credit or refund—not a filed claim or a potential number on a slide deck.
- Poor fit if you catch every error pre-pay or volume is tiny; not for workflow automation alone.

Contingency invoice audit means the auditor’s fee is a share of verified recoveries — often called no win no fee. CFOs like it because there is no upfront software seat cost tied to hope.
How no win no fee works in practice
You provide invoices and contracts. The auditor finds discrepancies and pursues recovery. When a credit or refund posts, you pay an agreed percentage of that amount. If nothing is recovered, you owe nothing for the contingency work.
Traditional firms (PRGX-style programs) use this model with large human teams. Newer tools use the same commercial logic with faster upload-to-report cycles for mid-market volume.
What “success” means (read this carefully)
Success is verified recovery — money in the bank or a posted credit — not a claim filed, not a “potential” number on a slide. Align with any vendor on that definition before you start.
RecoverAudit charges 20% of verified recoveries. The free pilot (10 invoices) has no fee and no card. After that, contingency applies to recovery work you approve.
When contingency is a bad fit
If you already catch every error before payment and never need recovery, you do not need a contingency auditor. If your volume is tiny (a handful of shipments a month), manual review may be enough.
If you need workflow automation or a generic AI assistant, that is a different purchase — not contingency invoice audit.
Claim pack vs claim filing. In V1 we deliver a claim pack — line-level evidence you can send. Auto-filing comes next. Fee is still 20% only on verified recovery. See pricing →
